Message from the Pastor
Many of you have received or will soon be receiving this year’s stewardship letter. In the letter, we talk a lot about the idea of ‘nurturing faith.’
When the church met on September 22nd to talk about our purpose and vision, we discerned that Calypso Presbyterian Church is most on-purpose when we are nurturing faith. That is, we feel like we are best fulfilling God’s calling on our lives and on the life of the church when we are nurturing faith.
Nurturing faith is something this church has done since its founding in 1903. I’m excited about continuing the ways we’ve always nurtured faith as well as looking for new ways to nurture our own faith as well as the faith of those around us.
Everyone needs to have their faith nurtured. From the smallest of children to our oldest generation, we must all seek to help each other continually grow in the faith. No one in this life can ever say, my faith is complete, it needs no more nurture. My hope is that as we go forward, everything we do as a church will be focused on nurturing faith in all age groups.
It is not something that only a select few of us should do, it’s something we all need to do together. So I encourage everyone of us to be thinking how best to nurture faith in our congregation and in the community. More specifically, how is your faith nurtured and how can you nurture someone else’s faith? What can you individually do to nurture faith, and what can we as a church do to nurture our faith and the and the faith of the community?
I look forward with great expectation to see how God will move in the life of our church!
