We asked Nick some questions to help you
get to know him a little better!
What do you love about your role here?
I love being part of a wonderful church and community. Everyone is warm and welcoming and have made us feel at home in Calypso.
What do you do for fun?
I love to play sports, basketball, golf, ping pong, tennis, frisbee. Just about anything with a ball! I also love to read, particularly history. Recently I’ve been on a biography kick and read biographies of James Garfield, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Charles Hodge and am currently reading one on Calvin Coolidge.
What books/authors have influenced your thought?
Mere Christianity by CS Lewis is a classic. I’ve also been influenced by Tim Keller, Henri Nouwen, NT Wright, John Piper and Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
What’s on your iPod?
Switchfoot, Il Divo, John Williams, Dave Barnes, Frank Sinatra, James Taylor, Shane and Shane, Jars of Clay, and Simon and Garfunkel to name a few. My music tastes are eclectic to say the least.
Beef Tenderloin or Sarah’s Chicken Broccoli Casserole
UNC, Wake, Duke, ECU, or NC State?
That’s a tough one. I grew up a huge Duke fan, but then went to Wake Forest. I’ll pull for both teams now but give Wake the edge when they’re playing each other.
